Vermont Chapter APT Board Members
Daphne Walker, President
Daphne (Type ENFJ) works full-time as a career advisor at Champlain College and is pursuing a master’s degree in Education from the University of Vermont. She gets to work with her preferences every day by empowering college students in a variety of ways and by making connections for students and employers.
An MBTI® practitioner since 1998, Daphne uses the instrument with students and alumni as a self assessment tool. She’s also qualified to administer the Strong Interest Inventory and the Knowdell Card Sorts.
Kathryn Jarvis, Vice-President
Kathryn Jarvis (Type INFJ) graduated from the University of Vermont with a Bachelor of Science in Social Work and a Master in Public Administration. She has been working in the field of human resources for over 20 years with local Chittenden County employers including Burlington Electric Department, Fletcher Allen Health Care and Cathedral Square Corporation. She is currently employed as the Director of Human Resources at Cathedral Square Corporation.
In 2001, Kay received the Governor’s Award for Outstanding Effort for the employment of people with disabilities while she was employed with Fletcher Allen Health Care. She became a certified Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® trainer in August 2009. Most importantly, she has a passion for helping individuals succeed with their job search, painting, enjoying the beautiful outdoors, and type theory. Danielle Gallant, Secretary
Danielle Gallant is the Senior Career Counselor at the University of Vermont's Career Services and serves as the liaison to the College of Engineering and Mathematical Sciences. In 2006, she received her M.Ed. in Student Affairs Counseling and worked within Career Services at the University of Rhode Island prior to coming to UVM. Over the last 3 years, she’s been involved with; employer relations & on-campus recruitment, the technology team in refining and updating the Career Service’s website, supervising our summer NASPA Undergraduate Fellows Program (NUFP) student, and developing programs for various student groups including; Senior Class Council, Society for Women Engineers and Upward Bound. In 2009, Danielle became certified as a Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) Practitioner and has facilitated programs for a continuing education course, Business Savvy, and the Summer Enrichment Scholars Program (SESP). She brings her joy of counseling, technology, programming and events to her role while providing career guidance for student and alumni.
Meg Sealey, Secretary
Meg (INFJ) works full-time as a Career Advisor at Champlain College. She first became interested in the MBTI as a student when she went through an interpretation with her career advisor. After advancing professionally to become a Career Advisor herself, she then decided to get certified as an MBTI practitioner in 2008. Now, she has the opportunity to help hundreds of students advance their careers and feels that self-assessment is a very important step in the process. She is excited to be able to teach students about personality types and help them to rediscover themselves and others. She believes that the MBTI provides the language and context for people to understand, explore and discuss what is happing inside their minds. Deborah Bergh
Debby Bergh is a coach and organizational development consultant who specializes in leadership coaching for individuals and strategic planning, board development, and group facilitation for organizations.
Debby started her own business in 1995, having worked for the national firm of Snelling & Kolb, Inc. for eight years. Prior to her employment with Snelling & Kolb, Debby had twenty years of increasingly responsible volunteer leadership experience in the non-profit sector both in Vermont and nationally. Ms. Bergh has served as board president or executive committee member of numerous organizations including Planned Parenthood of Northern New England, Planned Parenthood Federation of America, United Way of Chittenden County, the Visiting Nurse Association of Chittenden and Grand Isle Counties and Champlain College. She currently serves on the board of Audubon Vermont.
Sara Holloway
Sara Holloway (INFJ) is the Learning and Development Manager at Vermont Energy Investment Corporation in Burlington, Vermont: www.veic.org. She is responsible for designing and delivering learning and development programs for VEIC’s 200-plus employees including classroom training, job coaching and career counseling.
Sara became a certified Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® trainer in August 2009 and since then she has used Type in a variety of ways at VEIC including: enhancing teamwork, professional relationships and customer communications; helping individuals explore career options; and linking Type to leadership competencies and performance improvement strategies. Along with her passion for Type, Sara brings over fifteen years of experience in team dynamics, facilitation, mediation, leadership development, training, and non-profit management to the APT Board.
Sara and her family live near Smugglers Notch, Vermont where they enjoy skiing, paddling, gardening and grilling. Sara can be reached at sholloway@veic.org.
Randy Rowland
Randy Rowland (Type ESTP) is president of Teamswork, a firm that helps businesses create powerful boards of directors, motivated employees, and effective leaders. During his professional career, Randy has owned and operated a variety of businesses, including his family’s business, Bertholon-Rowland Corp., which was sold to its employees in 1990 through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). As CEO of BR, Randy and the other employee-owners grew the company from a single office insurance brokerage to a national enterprise with offices around the country.
Randy is a certified Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® practitioner, and is a certified in the Interstrength® Method for coaching and counseling. Randy is on the boards of the National Center for Employee Ownership, the Vermont Employee Ownership Center and the Vermont Chapter of the Association for Psychological Type. He is also a member of the Vermont Professional Responsibility Board, which monitors the conduct of attorneys in the state. He is a graduate of Middlebury College with a degree in Economics, and earned an MBA in Finance from the University of Vermont. Susan Walker
Susan Walker (Type ENTJ) is the Associate Director of Career Services at Middlebury College. A corporate outplacement consultant in New York for seven years before moving to Vermont, Susan has also worked in publishing and direct marketing and has taught ESL and English Composition at the University of Vermont, Champlain College, and St. Michael's College. Susan has a B.A. from Bryn Mawr College, an MAT degree from the University of Massachusetts, and an MATESL degree from St. Michael's College. Susan is a certified administrator of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® and also serves on the board of the Vermont Stage Company.
